Why is the work of UFVRA so critical?

United Federation Of Volunteers For Refugee Action (ufvra), focuses on the important refugee, displacement, humanitarian, and human rights issues that need urgent attention and action from government officials, policymakers, and other international organizations. Our volunteers travel to some of the world’s most severe displacement crises, examining the conditions facing refugees and internally displaced people (IDPs), and assessing the responses to those needs by non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and local and international aid organizations.

UFVRA as charitable organisation does not accept government or UN funding, enabling us to speak freely, underlining policies that are working well and where global action falls short. The humanitarian groups that respond to refugee and IDP crises often view Refugees International as an ally, since we can communicate needs and challenges through our robust advocacy in ways they often cannot. The alliances between UFVRA - Australia and humanitarian aid groups ultimately strengthen assistance efforts for refugees and displaced people, improving their circumstances and elevating their security and dignity Globally. UFVRA’s independence and our ability to speak freely and forcefully are needed now more than ever.

We acknowledge the traditional custodians of all the lands on which we meet, work and live and recognize that this land has always been and always will be Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander land.www.ufvra.org.au

United Federation of Volunteers for Refugees Action pays its good wishes to the traditional custodians across the lands in which we work, and acknowledges the elders past, present and emerging.  We walk together in solidarity in the shared pain of the past and with shared hope, respect and value for the future.
