Moorooka Homeless Link (street Cart) is the smallest effective hunger relief project in Australia. We are volunteer organisation, linking surplus food and groceries to people in need. Last year we supported 1700  thousands take away meals to the people in need, across Brisbane Homeless locations, including Fortitude valley, Roma street, King George square, cultural centre turn-al and stones corners.

We fight hunger in Moorooka area by sourcing free food, free drinks, free coffee and weekend dinner for people in need.

Moorooka Homeless Link (Street Food Cart) help the community?

Street Food Cart in Moorooka is Increasing numbers of Australians continue to lack access to basic supplies such as, food, clothing, awareness about health issues, having a warm winter jumper, physical and emotional support, single aged people from the minority round having access to social interaction with friends, or even a taken to doctor visit as result of luck of help.

The results also show that many homeless people are living and sleeping in over-crowded, unsafe or unsuitable accommodation such as tents.

The recently as 2020, there has been a 14% increase in homelessness rates in the last 5 years – representing a significant and worrying trend. There are now 116, 427 homeless people across Australia. This equates to an estimated 50 people in every 10,000 that are homeless (The Australian Bureau of Statistics) 

Our partners, Street food Cart is Australia’s largest food relief organisation, operating on a scale that makes it crucial to the work of the front line charities who are feeding vulnerable Australians. Through street food Cart, we are able to purchase cheaper food, with few that’s are free for more than 50% of the food rescued for disadvantage people food relief in Moorooka, not only that work in partnership that to achieve an inclusive goal which prevention of homelessness, referral system, and continue support including decision making from various stake holders.


Moorooka homeless link (Foodbank) team is small and we rely heavily on teams and individuals who generously give their time to help us get food to the people who need it. We have different volunteer opportunities available, if you would like to volunteer registered your interest below.

By joining our team, you will make a direct and positive impact to hungry Queens-landers including, Jobless,  Refugees, school children, those struggling in regional areas, along with elderly pensioners and low-income families (DFV).
